Ready or not, 2022 has come to an end. Before you pop that champagne, take a look at four ways moving to Hawaii can help your New Year’s resolutions.
1. Lead an Active Lifestyle
According to a recent Global Consumer Survey by Statistica, living healthier is top on the minds of many Americans. In fact, respondents cited their top three resolutions as exercising more, eating healthier, and losing weight.
In Hawaii, exercising more doesn’t have to look like a boring gym membership. You could start your mornings with an unenthusiastic jog on the treadmill. Or you could take up surfing.
Surfing provides excellent cardiovascular exercise and strength training. It will also help you improve balance, coordination, and stamina. Plus, you don’t have to be a pro to enjoy the mental benefits of splashing around in the ocean.
And if you’re a land lover, the Big Island features miles and miles of trails for running, hiking, and cycling. When was the last time your morning jog took you past a lava field?
2. Eat Healthier
During the dark stretch of January, eating healthy can feel like an atonement for the joyous gluttony of December. (Who wants to trade chips and dips for a dreary stalk of celery?) But healthy eating doesn’t have to be a punishment.
When you live on a tropical island, eating an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables is a privilege! Plus, you can take eating local to a whole new level. Citrus, lychee, bananas, pineapples, papaya – they all thrive in Hawaii’s rich volcanic soil.
My backyard has become a small orchard full of lime and avocado trees. Seriously. The fruits you can grow at your Hawaiian dream house are limitless. Let the feasting continue!
3. Spend Less Time on Social Media
What’s the easiest way to switch off in a world that demands constant connectivity? Move somewhere that needs no filter.
Hawaii is home to a wide range of breathtaking landscapes: dramatic seaside cliffs, lush volcanic mountains, sprawling grasslands, and plenty of big blue sky.
Endless hours scrolling on Instagram can’t compete with these views. Especially not when you’re enjoying them from your easy breezy luxury lanai.
4. Reduce Job Stress
I want you to picture your daily commute. How long is it? One hour? Two hours? Whether you’re stuck in traffic or crammed into a subway car, no amount of podcasts can make up for that lost time.
Now imagine what you could do with those hours if you lived on the Big Island. Snorkeling, swimming, golfing, sunbathing… (No judgment if you want to use that extra time for sleep.)
If your job allows you to work remotely, I highly recommend that you consider Hawaii for your next office space. What better way to decompress between quarterly reports than taking a quick dip in the plunge pool?
